Why is it that it's the morning after you've gone out and had waaay too much well tequila that your child decides it's the perfect day for getting up earlier than usual? And why are there so many damned lights on in this house? And why are those lights yelling so loud?

Sagittarius girls are tres cool, by the way.

Current Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban trailer
Should link to the new PoA trailer, without the messy WB pages. Right click on the link and save it to your desktop. Requires quicktime, which everyone should have anyway. Trailer is about 11 megs, and the movie is due to hit theaters June 4th.

and just my opinion, but it looks like they've actually tried to stay true to the darkness of the book. I'm looking forward to it - they could most easily ruin it by cuting it up. PoA should be scary as hell. And about 4 and a half hours long.

And for fun, here's a shot of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black.

Bush's re-election strategy: a theory
One or both of these things will happen very soon before the elections in November:
-Americans will receive one of those "tax refund" checks in the mail which the R's will make sure comes with George W. Bush's signature one them,
-there will be a terrorist attack domestically or a new theater of war opened overseas.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Americans were killed in a terrorist attack in the week before the election so we were in that state of high fear that works so well with W's approval ratings. Remember that this is the party that worked behind the scenes in Iran to make sure the hostages were not released until after the election (the same day Reagan was inaugurated by shear coincidence) in '80-'81. This is the same party that sold weapons to extremists in Iran in order to provide funding for illegal terrorist groups in Nicaragua. So if you think they are above working with terrorists for their own political gain at the expense of human lives, you've been reading different history books than I have.

The tax refund checks in the mail set to arrive just before the election are such a no-brainer, I think I'll just go ahead and work them into our family budget for November.

Iowa: Kerry wins, Gebhardt to drop out
I don't think anybody will seriously miss Gebhardt. That leaves Dean, Kerry, Clark, & Edwards, with Leiberman, Kucinich, & Sharpton still making appearances.
-The media will almost certainly paint this as a huge defeat for Dean, if it is or not. Finishing third is obviously disappointing for the "front runner."
-Kerry obviously gets a big boost.
-Clark was not really playing, and his NH showing will be huge for him. He still got 3 more delegates than Leiberman.
-Edwards' campaign has to be pleased. Very strong second for the young, Southern Senator.
From the Times: "almost half of Mr. Kerry's supporters and half of Mr. Edwards' supporters said they decided to support them in the last week."

And more news from the deep south - 123 arrested in Georgia dog fight - Jan. 19, 2004
Just to add on to the news of the dead girl from Georgia, comes this lovely tale of rednecks who like to pit dogs. I'd bet their wagerin' money that everyone of them was "Christian," too.

Wacky monotheists of the day! - Six-year-old found dead after possible exorcism - Jan. 19, 2004
After trying to apparently "remove demons" from a six year old girl (which apparently involves breaking several bones, including her back) parents are thrown in psych ward. Religion is so healthy, really. You have to just wanna sign right up!
